Is New York Jets head coach Adam Gase watching the same games everyone else is?

Apparently not, if his comments following another Jets loss is any indication.

Following the Jets' 30-10 home loss to the Arizona Cardinals, Gase said that the record doesn't match up to how the team looks in practice (via ESPN's Rich Cimini).

This just shows how out of touch Gase is. Of course a team is going to look a lot better in practice against itself than they will when they're playing a real game. No matter what coaches do to simulate game experiences, practice will never truly replicate a game day experience.

This is like a coach talking about their bad record in the regular season by saying “Well we had a good record in preseason, so we're better than how we look on the field because of that.” That's not how it works.

Practice is meant to be the way you prepare to win the game. If you aren't winning the games then your practices aren't doing what they are supposed to be doing. Ironically former Jets head coach Herm Edwards had an opposite sound bite while in New York; “You play to win the game!” If you're not winning the games then practices are meaningless.

Unfortunately for Jets fans, however, it does not appear as though Gase is going anywhere. Time will only tell if this quote changes that thought process in the Jets front office.

The point still stands; Adam Gase is out of touch with reality and seems to be trying to skew the narrative in his favor.
