Head coach Adam Gase almost led his New York Jets to a 1-0 record to start the regular season while the rival Buffalo Bills had other plans. Even though the Jets once led the Bills 16-0, New York was unable to hold off its divisional foe as Buffalo ultimately came away with a narrow 17-16 victory on the road in East Rutherford.

Although the Jets did not perform well outside of the team's defense, the aforementioned Gase was especially furious with how his team performed in the kicking game. The Jets notably missed an extra point and a field goal.

“We just have to get better,” Gase told reporters after Sunday's loss, via NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk. “We have to make extra points. We have to make field goals. We can’t be losing points in those areas of the field. . . . We’ll see what happens on Monday. I don’t know. I haven’t had a chance to have a conversation with the personnel guys and see what they want to do. We’ll have more as we go.”

The Jets went with kicker Kaare Vedvik on Sunday against the Bills as Vedvik also possesses the ability to punt the football. Such a unique skill set prompted the Jets to claim Vedvik off waivers last weekend from the Minnesota Vikings. However, Vedvik burst onto the scene en route to becoming the team's starting kicker while the Jets previously started the preseason with a veteran in Chandler Catanzaro, though Catanzaro decided to retire from professional football following the first preseason game of the year.
