Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is apparently a big fan of new Jets coach Adam Gase and is high on his impact on young quarterback Sam Darnold.

Jeffery believes Darnold is capable of becoming one of the best quarterbacks in the league who can lead the Jets to major success under Gase’s guidance.

“His impact will be huge,” Jeffery told NJ Advance Media on Thursday. “I think Darnold will excel. Knowing the Adam Gase that I know, and the potential the Jets are looking for, I’m pretty sure Sam is going to be a Super Bowl MVP. He can win a Super Bowl.

“Darnold will be an MVP in this league working with Gase. The way Gase works with quarterbacks, the next year and over the years to come, I expect big things coming from those two.”

Jeffery is pretty familiar with Gase’s work, having played for him when he was the offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears in 2015. He's also quite handy with predictions as he accurately called the Eagles winning the Super Bowl last year.

Obviously, that’s a major endorsement of Gase, who did not have an especially successful three-year stint with Ryan Tannehill and the Miami Dolphins.

Although, Darnold has a higher upside than Tannehill, which he displayed in stretches during his rookie season.

It remains to be seen whether Jeffery’s prediction will come true like his famous Super Bowl guarantee. But if Gase can tap into that talent and maximize Darnold’s potential, they stand a decent chance of proving Jeffery right.
