The word “stability” does not typically fit into a sentence that includes “New York Jets,” but linebacker C.J. Mosley hopes to change that.

Mosley, who signed a five-year, $85 million contract with the Jets earlier this offseason, is aiming to change the culture in New York.

“Stability,” Mosley said when asked about his impact, according to Eric Allen of the Jets' official team website. “That’s one of the things that you can bring to the table to any team and your career as a football player. Being able to be an every-down player, make plays at any time and just be a force in the locker room on and off the field. I think that’s one of the key things you need on a young team — a guy that can lead by example and also a guy that will be able to step up and talk and make plays.”

The 27-year-old is coming off of a 2018 campaign with the Baltimore Ravens in which he totaled 105 tackles, an interception and five passes defended en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

“You get older, you get more comfortable in your role,” added Mosley. “So when things get tough on you or you’ve been in a situation that you see kind of processing again, then that’s where I feel like I got better at as a leader and as a football player.”

Mosley, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was originally selected by the Ravens with the 17th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He went on to make four Pro Bowls during his five-year stint in Baltimore, racking up over 100 tackles four times and posting a career-high 151 stops during his rookie campaign.

Mosley is also a fine pass rusher for an inside linebacker, having logged 8.5 sacks through his first five seasons.
