Most teams in the NFL have begun empowering their players to speak their minds amid the discussions that are being had on racial injustices. According to CJ Mosley of the New York Jets, CEO Christopher Johnson has been helping lead the discussions on racial inequality.

Per Brian Costello of the New York Post:

“He came on the video call and talked to the whole team, the players, the coaching staff, whoever was on that video chat and he expressed his concerns,” Mosley said on a conference call, via ProFootballTalk. “He pretty much let us know that anything that we needed he was there to help. He gave out his personal info and said any guy that wants to call or any guy that wants to get together to work something out, he was there to help. That definitely meant a lot to me, and I’m pretty sure to everybody else for him to go out of his way.”

While teams are looking for ways to create change, Johnson is extending his phone number to members of the Jets. In doing so, that allows players to manufacture ideas that could advance the movement.

However, this isn't the first time that Johnson has been proactive in helping players speak out against racial injustices. Back in 2016, Colin Kaepernick began to kneel during the national anthem while speaking out against racial issues.

Some teams informed their players to stand during the anthem instead of supporting Kaepernick. On the other hand, Johnson told players that the Jets would not punish those that chose to kneel in solidarity with Kaepernick. In light of that, Johnson is earning the respect of his players by being open to listening to his players.
