Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield may be the talk of the town at the moment, but Fox Sports talk-show host Colin Cowherd feels that New York Jets signal-caller Sam Darnold will be better over the long haul.

To be fair to Cowherd, the general consensus going into the 2018 NFL Draft was that Darnold was a better prospect than Mayfield. Of course, that didn't stop the Browns from taking Mayfield with the first overall pick, but that was the general opinion at the time.

Of course, Cowherd may also be a bit biased, as he has long been a critic of Mayfield, and it seems blatantly obvious that he and Mayfield do not like one another.

But will Cowherd end up being right?

No one knows for sure, and obviously, Mayfield has accomplished more than Darnold thus far, as he set the rookie record with 27 touchdown passes this past year and is a huge reason why many have pegged Cleveland as a legitimate contender in the AFC.

It will certainly be interesting to see how each quarterback performs in their second year.

Mayfield definitely has more weapons than Darnold, with Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry in the receiving corps, but the Jets have a decent group of receivers in their own right, and let's not forget they added Le'Veon Bell this offseason.

All in all, we should probably take Cowherd's opinion with a grain of salt here given his checkered history with Mayfield, but at the same time, it would not be a shock if he ends up being correct in this case.
