As if the New York Jets season couldn't grow any more unfortunate, the defense took a massive hit as stud linebacker Darron Lee was hit with a suspension on Friday.

The suspension comes right before the Jets game with their division rival Buffalo Bills this upcoming Sunday. Lee has been one of the team's consistent contributors on the defensive side of the ball this season. The former first-round pick out of Ohio State blew up in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions. Lee accumulated six tackles, three pass defenses, two interceptions and in which one was returned for a touchdown.

Lee will likely miss the remainder of the season considering there are only four weeks left. The Jets have also been eliminated from playoffs after last night's Titans win and Jaguars loss. Unfortunately for the Jets, they will have to collect themselves after the season is over and do whatever they can to make the 2019 season more successful.

Lee is part of a very young and talented New York Jets defense including Leonard Williams, Jamal Adams, and Trumaine Johnson. Since his 2016 rookie campaign, Lee has started nearly every game in his three-year career. Lee's 74 tackles this season were on pace to duplicate the 94 tackles he accounted for last season.

There's no telling what the future holds for the New York Jets, however, if they wish to turn things around in the near future it would be wise to maintain their potentially strong defense.
