The New York Jets' Jamal Adams has quickly become one of the best defensive backs in all of football.

However, while that is great news for the team, it could be also end up backfiring. The reason for that is simple: Contract negotiations.

With Adams turning into a legitimate star, he wants to be paid like one. The Jets don't exactly seem to be on the same page as him though. At the very least, the Jets do not seem to be prepared to give Adams exactly what he wants right now, if ever. And that's been causing issues between the two sides all year long.

Adams has been hot and cold with his interactions with and demands for the Jets. At times, he seems all in on New York. At others, it seems like he wants out.

Just last week, the defensive back blasted the contract talks with the Jets, calling them, “a lot of talk, no action”.

Now, per ESPN's Field Yates, Adams posted another instance of Adams' displeasure with the Jets on Instagram. And this time he got even more serious, saying that “maybe it's time to move on”.

Things have clearly gotten, and remain, ugly between Adams and the Jets. Adams is not happy at the moment. And he brings up multiple valid points.

Adams notes that people bringing up Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes when talking about his own contract demands are missing the point. Mahomes is a quarterback, so he is going to get a big-money contract no matter what. And he is playing a position with a much longer shelf life. He also has mentioned Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey's latest contract as a more apt comparison.

Adams does not have those luxuries as a safety, however. But he also wants the Jets to pay him well for the highly-skilled services he provides the defense.

This is a messy situation that could end with Adams finding a new home soon. Luckily for him, a lot of teams will probably be more than happy to approach the Jets with a trade offer and, eventually, back up the Brinks truck to get Adams in their uniforms.
