Jamal Adams' streak of 45 consecutive starts is in jeopardy. The New York Jets safety is considered “week-to-week” with an ankle injury, which he sustained in Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, Jets coach Adam Gase would not say that Adams suffered a high-ankle sprain. Instead, he dubbed the injury as a “legit week-to-week” one.

Gase noted that he is going to dictate Adams' status to play based on how he feels. They do not want to risk injury to their All-Pro third-year safety, nor do they want him playing at anything else but 100%.

“I’m going to lean on him a lot as far as how he feels,” Gase said on Monday. “We want to make sure he’s good to go before we put him back out there. I want to make sure he’s in the right place physically, so he can play his style of ball, which is basically he’s the heartbeat of our defense. We want him to be able to go full throttle and he has to feel right to get back out there.”

Adams' injury noticeably set him back in Sunday's loss to the now one-win Bengals. He logged just one tackle in the game. He was seen limping out of the locker room, according to multiple reports, after the defeat.

The No. 6 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Adams has not yet missed an NFL game. The LSU product has been a revelation for their defense, but that could be no more against the Miami Dolphins in Week 14.
