It's not often that the best player on a team offers to switch positions. But New York Jets safety Jamal Adams is offering his services at cornerback if the team needs him. The Jets have been ravaged by injuries at the position, so Adams thought he could step up.

“If they need me to go to corner, I’ll go to corner, I’m dead serious. Next up. Obviously, things happen, that’s what we’re coached to do in [the] defensive back room. We’re all coached the same, we’re well-coached and everybody is getting the same treatment as far as coaching so everybody knows the expectations once we get out there as a defensive group.” Adams said, according to Jets Wire.

While it's a nice thought, there is no way it's actually going to happen. The former Louisiana State Tiger is one of the best safeties in all of football, and is at best mediocre at cornerback. Adams is truly a dominant player, whether he is playing down in the box, in the slot, or deep. There are very few players in the league who could replace his production at safety, and certainly no one on the Jets roster.

Besides the cornerback issue, the Jets don't look too shabby. If quarterback Sam Darnold takes a step forward in his sophomore year, these Jets could be a tough out.

Don't expect playoffs for this unit just yet, but with another draft and another strong free agent class, the Jets will be sniffing the playoffs for the first time in a while.
