The Dallas Cowboys did it. There have been plenty of rumors circulating that they were thinking about it. But many were still skeptical that they would actually cut wide receiver Dez Byrant— but they did. The question now is where he will land.

Plenty of players are going to take to social media to encourage him to sign with their team—like New York Jets safety Jamal Adams.

If Bryant were to go with the Jets, he would jump right back into the role of primary wide receiver. But he would be joining a team with an even worse quarterback situation than he has had to endure in Dallas the last few years.

Nothing against Dak Prescott, but the collection of stiffs that played while Tony Romo was hurt had to be twice as frustrating for Bryant as it was for fans. He can’t showcase his talent and skill if the quarterback can’t get him the ball.

While Bryant may find it exciting to work with a new young quarterback, not knowing who the Jets are going to pick could be a deal breaker. Does he want to go from a team with one young quarterback to another?

Probably not.

Multiple teams are probably going to make a pitch to Bryant in the days to come. He will not sign for as much as he was making in Dallas. But he will likely sign with a contender that he can help reach the game he never got to with the Cowboys: the Super Bowl (which excludes the Jets from consideration).
