New York Jets safety Jamal Adams has managed to fit in quite nicely in the Big Apple. However, it appears he thought he would be spending his career with the Chicago Bears.

Prior to becoming a Jet, Adams was one of the most highly-touted prospects in the 2017 NFL Draft. According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, he was confident that the Bears would take him with the third overall pick:

“I’m not even going to sugar coat it. I thought I was going to be a Chicago Bear,” Adams told the Daily News in the run-up to the Jets trip to Chicago this weekend. “Everybody did. But it didn’t work out that way. And I landed in the best possible position.”

His confidence was not shaken even after the Bears moved up one spot in a trade with the San Francisco 49ers.

“Honestly, I did not know,” Adams said of whether he’d get picked at No. 2 after the trade. “The cameras were on Mitch and me. So, we did not know. The cameras were on both of us. We definitely didn’t know. No one got the call. The commissioner made the pick. No one in the green room got a call. No one.”

Chicago ultimately selected Mitchell Trubisky with the second overall pick. Meanwhile, Adams fell to New York at six. While the draft may not have panned out as he would have expected, it is safe to say things worked out for the best.

Jamal Adams has made a seamless transition to the NFL following a stellar rookie campaign. His versatility and all-around skill set make him an ideal fit in this Jets defense. Although the Jets defense has struggled at times in the 2018 NFL season, the second-year man out of LSU has continued to perform at a high level. He has registered 50 tackles, one interception, a sack, and two forced fumbles this season.

It is safe to say that Adams and this aggressive unit will be looking to apply the pressure on Trubisky this week. He has the chance to kill two birds with one stone by pulling out a win and reminding the Bears' brass of what could have been.
