New York Jets rookie quarterback Zach Wilson could find himself without a key weapon for the Week 1 tilt against the Carolina Panthers. Wide receiver Jamison Crowder tested positive for COVID-19 and is going on the COVID list, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapaport.

It's believed that this is an isolated case for New York, but Crowder's status for Week 1 is now up in the air.

Crowder is slated to be one of the Jets' starting wide receivers in 2021, so it would be an unfortunate blow for Wilson and the team if he can't go. New York does have an intriguing wide receiver group in place, though, with Corey Davis, Keelan Cole, Elijah Moore, Braxton Berrios and Denzel Mims all on the roster.

The veteran wide receiver is entering his third season with New York after four seasons in Washington. Last season, Crowder caught 59 passes for 699 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games. The year before that, he had 78 catches for 833 yards and six scores in one of his two best seasons in the NFL.

The Jets are trying to end a lengthy playoff drought after a dreadful 2-14 2020 campaign put them in position to take Wilson with the No. 2 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. New York hasn't made the postseason since the 2010 season. The Jets made back-to-back AFC Championships Games and then went a full decade without any playoff appearances.
