After many years with the Baltimore Ravens, longtime NFL quarterback Joe Flacco spent one season with the Denver Broncos in 2019. After an injury-shortened campaign in what would ultimately become his only go-round in Denver, Flacco then tested the free agent market this offseason en route to signing with the New York Jets.

As a result of his eventual choice to join “Gang Green,” which came later on in the spring, the Jets newcomer only recently opened up to provide some insight regarding his decision to become part of the organization.

“I took a while to really think about what I wanted to do,” Flacco told SiriusXM NFL Radio, via NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk, as he elected to wait until April because he was not sure about joining the Jets.

With a significant neck injury ending his short stint in Denver prematurely, Flacco was then forced to undergo surgery to repair the damage this offseason before joining the Jets. While this setback could have affected his decision in addition to causing a delay, Flacco referred to the procedure as “pretty basic” during his talk with SiriusXM NFL Radio.

Of course, it appears as though Flacco's days as a starting quarterback are over. He will now head to East Rutherford to serve as a backup to Jets starter Sam Darnold. Prior to his arrival in New York, Flacco served as a place-holder for current Broncos starter Drew Lock while league MVP Lamar Jackson has obviously taken over under center in Baltimore.
