The New York Jets were one of the few teams in the league determined to select a quarterback in the 2018 NFL Draft. Not only were they able to bring in a rookie quarterback, but they may have acquired the cream of the crop in USC's Sam Darnold.

Along with drafting Darnold, the team also made sure the position was secure by adding some depth. New York re-signed Josh McCown, who is coming of his best season as a pro, and brought in Teddy Bridgewater formerly of the Minnesota Vikings. Although McCown may end up keeping his job as the starter, he's been impressed by Darnold during offseason workouts thus far, via Ethan Sears of the New York Post.

“Every day I feel like he goes out and gets better,” Josh McCown said of this year’s third-overall pick, before the Jets opened practice Tuesday. “I think for all of us, but really for young players, you’re discovering something new every time you step on the field.”

The Jets swapped picks with the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL Draft in order to get the best quarterback available at No. 3. New York lucked out with arguably the most talented player at that position falling in their laps after the Cleveland Browns went with Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield at No. 1 and the New York Giants going a different route entirely with the selection of running back Saquon Barkley out of Penn State.

So far, Darnold has received nothing but praise during his short time in New York. Whether or not that praise turns into a chance to be the starter Week 1 remains to be seen, but he appears to be making an impression.
