Todd Bowles and the New York Jets are heading into their Week 10 matchup against the Buffalo Bills hoping to have a big game and pickup their fourth win of the season. Unfortunately, the Jets are going to have to do that without rookie quarterback Sam Darnold, who has been ruled out as the starter. He has not been ruled out as the backup just yet, however. According to a report from Rich Cimini of ESPN, the Jets will start veteran quarterback Josh McCown this week and Darnold could end up being his backup in case of emergency.

Darnold was spotted in a walking boot earlier this week and was expected to miss the game. Josh McCown is a more than capable starter when given the chance, especially against a weak Buffalo defense.

Last season with the Jets, McCown played in 13 regular season games. He completed 67.3 percent of his pass attempts for 2,926 yards, 18 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Those numbers show why the Jets are more than comfortable having him start this week.

At 39 years old, McCown is likely not going to be playing more than a few years. That being said, he is still capable of putting up numbers, which could motivate him to keep playing.

It will be interesting to see how McCown plays this week against the Bills. He has not played a snap all season long. Rust could become a factor for some players, but McCown has always shown that he will be ready whenever his number is called.
