New York Jets offensive lineman Kelechi Osemele is slated to have surgery to repair a torn labrum that is expected to keep him out for the remainder of the 2019 NFL season. However, it appears the team still has yet to make it official.

Osemele and the Jets have now been engaged in back-and0forth that has resulted in little contact between both sides. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, he is scheduled to have surgery this Friday:

Jets OL Kelechi Osemele is scheduled to have surgery on Friday to repair his torn labrum, agent Andrew Kessler confirmed. Jets won't declare him out for the year, so the player is about to do it himself.

As if the Jets did not have enough problems on their hands amidst their abysmal start to the 2019 campaign, the situation with Osemele now grows more uncertain by the day. Even if the team is not trying to make it official, it seems they will have to navigate the rest of the season without Osemele.

New York made quite a splash when they acquired the two-time Pro Bowler in exchange for a fifth-round pick this offseason in an effort to beef up the offensive line for quarterback Sam Darnold and running back Le'Veon Bell. Unfortunately, he has not been able to log in much time due to the lingering shoulder injury.

Osemele has now opted to get surgery without permission from the Jets and will miss the rest of the year.

His decision will undoubtedly raise even more questions about his future with the team.
