The New York Jets have been busy shoring up their roster this offseason. Among their notable acquisitions was that of left guard Kelechi Osemele.

The 2018 NFL season was a bit of a disappointing one for Osemele. According to Bryan Costello of the New York Post, he is hoping the new change-of-scenery will help him return to Pro Bowl form:

“Yeah, just dealing with injuries and battling through that the entire year and not being able to play like myself,” Osemele said. “That’s part of the game. It happens. I just have to stay healthy this next season and play like a Pro Bowl player that I usually play like.”

There is certainly good reason for Osemele to be optimistic. He had enjoyed a successful stint in Oakland after earning two trips to the Pro Bowl and first-team All-Pro honors in his first two years with the Raiders. He seemed to be well on his way to following up his stellar couple of years until he was hampered by injuries. Osemele was not his usual dominant self after missing five games last season due to knee and toe issues.

Fortunately, Osemele seems to be optimistic about his new start moving forward. He will have a chance to prove himself once again for this revamped Jets team that has managed to capture headlines this offseason. Whether he is paving the way for running back Le'Veon Bell of protecting quarterback Sam Darnold, the 29-year-old's skill set will surely be on display in primetime next season.
