Free agent cornerback Kevin Johnson is scheduled to visit with the New York Jets this week and will be flying in to meet with the team on Friday night, according to Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle.

The Jets will mark the the third team Johnson has visited since being released by the Houston Texans earlier in the week. He has also made stops to see the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns.

Johnson played in just one game this past season after suffering a concussion during the Texans' Week 1 loss to the New England Patriots. He landed on the injured reserve list on Sept. 12.

The 26-year-old, who played collegiate football at Wake Forest University, was originally selected by Houston in the first round (16th pick) of the 2015 NFL Draft.

He played in all 16 games during his rookie campaign, registering 52 tackles, an interception, and nine passes defended. The following year, Johnson appeared in just six contests as a result of a broken foot, tallying 21 tackles and a fumble recovery.

The Clarksville, Md., native participated in 12 games in 2017, missing some time due to a sprained MCL. When he was on the field, he posted 45 tackles.

Due to his inability to stay on the field, in addition to his inconsistent play when he was actually healthy, the Texans finally gave up on Johnson, parting with him earlier this week.

The Jets are coming off a season in which they won just four games. New York has not made the playoffs since the 2010-11 campaign.
