Adam Gase's first year as New York Jets head coach is in the books, and it was not without turbulence. The latest drama comes in the form of a perceived diss affecting star running back Le'Veon Bell, who responded to a quote about him from Gase, who spoke to the media at the conclusion of the Jets' 2019 regular season.

“He's under contract for three more years,” Gase responded to a question from the press on Monday regarding whether the head coach would want Bell back as the starting rusher next year. “You can ask [general manager] Joe [Douglas] tomorrow,” Gase repeated a second time.

Well, the three-time Pro-Bowl running back Bell saw Gase's comments Monday afternoon and responded on social media with a GIF because that's how things are done in nearly 2020.

The 27-year-old former Pittsburgh Steelers rusher, who completed his first season with New York after signing a four-year, $52.5 million contract in the past offseason, apparently did not mesh well with the rookie head coach, who was also hired at the same time in the spring.

The Gase-Bell dispute stems back to the coach reportedly unhappy with the Jets signing the two-time All-Pro First Team running back way before the start of the season. Bell was even rumored to be on the trading block by the deadline mid-season in 2019.

Bell's first year with the Jets went poorly by his standards, recording 589 rushing yards on 245 carries for just 3.2 yards per carry and scoring touchdowns on the ground and one more in the air.

At the moment, something is going to have to change within the Gase-Bell dynamic to work out the kinks before the 2020 NFL season.
