The New York Jets got off to a slow start against the Buffalo bills in the 2020 NFL season opener. Unfortunately, things have taken a turn for the worst with running back Le'Veon Bell sidelined.

The team announced the Bell will miss the rest off the game with an injured hamstring:

The Jets already had their work cut out going against this staunch Bills' defense Week 1 following an unprecedented offseason due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Having to finish the game without one of the focal points of the offense only adds further cause for concern.

Bell was not able to find much realty against Buffalo's stingy defense after rushing for a mere 14 yards on six carries. Of course, his lack of success was indicative of the struggles on offense as a whole.

New York is keeping their fingers crossed the Bell's injury is not deemed to be too severe. Regardless, it is safe to assume that they will look to take a cautious approach with his recovery in order to avoid any potential setbacks moving forward.

Fortunately, the Jets made sure to secure a solid contingency option this offseason with the addition of running back Frank Gore. The onus will now fall on him to take over the run game and help provide some balance on offense in Bell's absence. The veteran's presence should serve as a stabilizing factor for not only the backfield, but also quarterback Sam Darnold as he continues to find his footing under center following a modest performance.
