New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell hasn't been in a football game for well over a year, and there are some questions if he will get any run during the preseason.

Coach Adam Gase has said he isn't sure if Bell is going to play, and although Bell admits he would like to play a little bit at least, he doesn't think it's something he necessarily needs.

“I don’t really necessarily need them,” Bell said of getting preseason touches via the New York Daily News. “If I get them, they’ll help. But I don’t think I’ll need them. I think once we get out there… football is football. I’ve been playing for so long. It naturally will come back to me. I’ll get adjusted to the game … in a couple plays and I’m ready to go.”

The Jets have tried to be smart with Bell all preseason as they try and get him geared up for the regular season. They limited him early in training camp, but as the practices have gone along, he has become more involved, and the last few days they have been trying to simulate game situations.

“Having my head move certain ways. Maybe when I hit the ground (in an) unorthodox (way),” Bell said. “That’s game-like. So, I like when it happens in practice. It helps prepare for the games. Because you don’t know how you’ll hit the ground. I don’t want to have a certain time when I hit the ground a certain way, but in practice I never repped it or I never felt it. Then in a game it comes and it feels weird to me.”

Even if he doesn't play in the regular season, these practices that have simulated game action should help him when the regular season kicks off.
