The New York Jets are still winless heading into Week 6 of the 2019 NFL season. Fortunately, the return of quarterback Sam Darnold has left hope for a potential resurgence.

The Jets are banking on Darnold to turn things around against the Dallas Cowboys. Regardless, running back Le'Veon Bell feels the rest of the team still has to find a way to step their game up, via Andy Vasquez NorthJersey.com:

“We can’t expect Sam to just go out there and be Superman, obviously,” Bell said. “We know he’s a great player and he’s going to make a lot of plays, but guys still gotta do their job. We’ve still got to protect him, we’ve still got to make plays for him, we’ve got to make sure we get all the calls in, everybody’s got to line up and make his job easier so he doesn’t have to think too much.”

Bell's comments are certainly understandable considering New York has left Darnold in a rather precarious position coming back to a team that is still looking for its first win. It would be unfair for them to put all the responsibility of a comeback squarely on his shoulders.

Although the onus is still on the team to find a way to improve, there is good reason to be optimistic about Darnold's return. While there are several factors that have attributed to their poor start, it is safe to say that their lackluster play under center as been one of them.

With Darnold expected to lead an uptick on offense, he will need all the help he can get from Bell and the offensive line to keep the Cowboys defense off his back.
