New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell made it clear that he has high expectations for the 2019 NFL season. He is optimistic that quarterback Sam Darnold is going to help him accomplish those goals.

The Jets managed to find some stability in the backfield alongside Darnold with the addition of Le'Veon Bell in free agency. According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, he feels the second-year quarterback is going to provide him plenty of opportunities to show out:

“Sam is going to make me a better player, just because of the fact that he's so mobile,” said Bell, who spent the first five years of his career playing with future Hall of Famer Ben Roethlisberger. “He's going to create opportunities I wouldn't usually have. Same thing for me. I'm going to make opportunities for him that he's never had before, too. We'll bounce off each other. We'll be a special duo in the backfield.”

There is certainly plenty of hype surrounding the Jets' new tandem. Le'Veon Bell's optimism is understandable considering the flashes of brilliance Darnold displayed last year. Although he endured his fair share of struggles during his rookie campaign, he was still able to establish himself as one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the league.

It is safe to say that Darnold will have a much better supporting cast this time around. Of course, any talk of improvements begins in the backfield with Bell. The Jets now have a chance to establish a solid run game to complement their passing attack. The onus will fall on Bell and Darnold to keep defenses honest due to their balanced approach on offense.
