New York Jets left tackle Mekhi Becton couldn’t catch a break in his first NFL season. After playing just 90 seconds in the first quarter in tonight’s game against the Denver Broncos, he was forced to exit the field as he reinjured his shoulder.

The 21-year-old rookie first sustained it in the second quarter during their loss to the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday. He didn’t start tonight but was inserted early as an emergency as his supposed replacement Chuma Edoga also needed his own emergency after also suffering a shoulder injury.

Becton was beaten for a sack by Bradley Chubb on the third-down play and landed on his nagging left shoulder. He failed to get up for several seconds until he got replaced on their next offensive series by Connor McGovern.

The former Louisville standout was selected by the Jets as the 11th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft and is deemed as a huge addition. He, however, has yet to showcase his skills in his first three outings.

The hospital bills must be piling up for the Jets early in the season as cornerback Bless Austin, wide receiver Lawrence Cager, defensive lineman Steve McLendon, and linebacker Jordan Jerkins are also nursing various injuries.

The team had an even bigger scare in the first half when star quarterback Sam Darnold exited the game after a hard sack by Broncos’ linebacker Alexander Johnson. Fortunately for the Jets, he only missed a couple of plays before returning.

The Jets are still looking for their first win. They're 0-4 after losing to the Broncos, 37-28.
