The New York Jets have parted ways with running back Isiah Crowell after just one season according to Josiana Anderson of ESPN.

The Jets signed Crowell last offseason but with the team signing Le'Veon Bell to a long term deal this seemed to be the expected next move. Crowell would have been due $2 million of his $4 million salary if he was still on the team on Friday so this move saves the team $3 million.

In Crowell's one season with the team, he had a lot of success running the ball 143 times for 685 yards and six touchdowns. He did deal with injuries towards the end of the season and ended up being placed on injured reserve with three games left.

He also got into some hot water with the coaching staff when he pretended to wipe his butt after a touchdown against the Cleveland Browns in week three. Even with the teams anger he was able to pick up a toilet paper endorsement for the stunt.

When Crowell missed the last couple weeks of the season Elijiah McGuire was the guy who stepped up big and if the team doesn't sign any other running backs it will probably be McGuire who will be the backup to Bell.

Bell sat out all of last season to make sure he was healthy for free agency and cashed in with a nice contract. He should help take the load off Sam Darnold's shoulder's and should also open up the field for the rest of the offense.
