The New York Jets are still looking for their first win of the 2020 NFL season heading into their Week 3 AFC East tilt versus the Buffalo Bills. Unfortunately, it appears the receiving corps for quarterback Sam Darnold will be rather shorthanded.

Darnold will be without his top two options in the passing game with wide receivers Jamison Crowder (hamstring) and Breshad Perriman (ankle) ruled out versus the Colts, per ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter:

The Jets already had their work cut out this week going against a top-tanked Jets' defense that is only allowing a league-best 122.5 yards per game through the air so far. Darnold and the offense will be undermanned once again in Chris Hogan, Braxton Berrios and Josh Malone heading his receiving corps.

New York already had to place running back Le'Veon Bell and wide receiver Denzel Mims on injured reserve due to hamstring injuries. Meanwhile, tackle George Fant will also be sidelined with a concussion he suffered in practice this week. Losing so many key players on offense in such a short period of time has set Darnold up for another potential rough outing.

Running back Frank Gore has helped serve as a stabilizing factor in the backfield in Bell's absence. However, he could lose some touches to running back La’Mical Perine after the rookie made his debut in Week 2 and now appears to be fully recovered from a preseason ankle injury.

Regardless, it remains to be seen if Darnold will be able to make do with the weapons left at his disposal.
