There were some questions about what the New York Jets would do with Leonard Williams this offseason, but according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the team has no plans to trade him away. The Jets are going through a rebuild and there were questions if the team wanted him to be a part of it, but according to Mehta, he is in the Jets' future plans.

Williams is a due a $14.2 million fifth-year option in 2019 and that really shouldn't be a problem for a Jets team that is expected to have over $110 million in cap space this offseason. If the Jets weren't able to come to a long term extension, they should still have enough cap space next year to sign him to the franchise tag.

In November, Williams had told the Daily News that if there was a coaching change it could impact his decision on re-signing with the team.

“I feel like it will impact my decision when that comes,” Williams told the News at the time. “But the fact that I don’t know if there’s going to be a coaching change or I don’t know if there’s going to be a (new) contract… I don’t know what’s in the store for the future, so I can’t (predict).”

Williams is expected to be moved to three-technique this offseason, which will make him even more of a weapon next season as he should get more one on one matchups inside.

Either way, the expectation is that he will be a Jet at the start of next season.
