The New York Jets selected Michael Carter twice in the NFL draft?

Yes, that's exactly what New York did as the Jets drafted running back Michael Carter in the fourth round.

Then the Jets took defensive back Michael Carter in the fifth round.

Besides having the same name and team now, they should both make an impact on the Jets next season.

Running back Michael Carter will be able to instantly compete for the starting job with the Jets.

Defensive back Michael Carter will likely be a day one starter in New York.

The Jets have had a very successful draft so far as they have bolstered the offense. After selecting Quarterback Zach Wilson with the second overall pick the Jets made sure to build around him. They traded up to pick 13 to select offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker to protect their potential franchise quarterback. In the second round they got Wilson a weapon by drafting wide receiver Elijah Moore. Moore will make life easier for his rookie quarterback this season.

After those picks, the Jets selected both players named Michael Carter with their 4th and 5th round picks. The running back Carter could have a similar rookie season to James Robinson of the Jaguars. Robinson went undrafted and went on to rush for over 1,000 yards for the Jags.

Carter of North Carolina could easily become running back one for New York and be the starter come week one.

For defensive back Michael Carter he has a great chance at being a day one corner. With a lack of depth at the position, Carter could be a piece in the secondary for many years.

While they have the same name, another similarity is they will both be great players for the New York Jets, a team which had a very specific philosophy in this draft… and an affinity for Carter members.
