The New York Jets are reportedly set to make former Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase their new head coach.

Gase was recently fired by the Dolphins after the team's second straight losing season, but it looks like he'll be back in the AFC East once again as he joins the Jets.

He went 10-6 in his first season in Miami, which included a trip to the AFC Wild Card Game.

However, he was unable to keep the momentum going from there, as the Dolphins went just 6-10 overall in 2017 and 7-9 overall this season.

And now, he's headed to try to revamp the Jets, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

With Gase joining the mix, that should give Jets fans a little more confidence in the team's ability to build around franchise quarterback Sam Darnold. The former USC star showed plenty of potential this season, and Gase should be able to get the most out of his abilities.

Of course, there are still going to be more roster moves necessary in order for New York to be an AFC contender once again, but that will certainly be a top priority for Gase and his staff.

It's clear that Gase has the offensive pedigree to help the Jets make big strides, and they'll hope that's the case as they continue to chase the New England Patriots in the division.
