The New York Jets are in the midst of another tough season. Entering Week 11, the Jets are 2-7, last in the AFC East. They are an NFL worst -135 scoring on the season. There is not a lot to be optimistic about if you are a Jets fan.

In what has become a quarterback driven league, the Jets made a wise decision drafting a quarterback with the #2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, Zach Wilson struggled mightily this season before suffering a PCL sprain in his right knee.

For more insight on the Jets' Week 11 matchup against the Dolphins, listen below:

In his place, Mike White burst onto the scene and led the Jets to their second win of the season in a 34-31 upset of the Cincinnati Bengals. The former 5th round pick of the Dallas Cowboys looked fantastic.

Suddenly there was reason for excitement. However, that was short lived. White was injured the following week, which led to the Jets signing of Joe Flacco. Jets head coach Robert Salah later announced the Flacco will get the start this Sunday vs the Miami Dolphins.

The New York Jets are looking for something to build off of. That might be difficult in this weekend's matchup.

Jets Week 11 Predictions

4. Both Joe Flacco and Mike White will throw interceptions

Mike White is reportedly healthy enough to play Sunday, but Salah has opted for the newly signed veteran quarterback. The Dolphins are among the blitz heaviest defenses in the NFL, and apparently Salah was concerned with White's ability to handle the blitz.

In case Salad didn't notice, it's been years since Flacco has handled much of anything under center. He did not play well last season as a member of the Jets, nor the season before with the Denver Broncos. He is well past his prime and it appears as though much of his success in Baltimore was predicated purely on the defense and running game.

Miami's defense is flying high after shutting down Lamar Jackson and the vaunted Ravens rushing attack. I don't expect the Jets to do any better. Following a couple early turnovers from Flacco, coach Salah will make the change. Mike White will be inserted into the game. It won't get much prettier though, as he will complete a pass to the opponent also.

3. Michael Carter will rush for 100 yards for the first time in career

The Jets used their fourth round pick on North Carolina running back Michael Carter. During his rookie season, he has shown flashes and has probably been the brightest light on this offense. He is quick and elusive, and uses his undersized frame well.

Carter is listed at 5ā€² 8ā€. He has excellent hands and how proven to be an effective pass catcher. Carter has 25 catches over the Jets last five games. Seeing as the Dolphins employ Cover 0 as much as any defense in the league, and love to bring rushers off the edge, it makes sense to keep the ball on the ground vs a below average rush defense.

2. The Jets defense will create three turnovers

New York's defense has only forced seven turnovers this season. That is the worst in the NFL. But every dog has its day. In what is considered a rivalry game, I expect the Jets defense to make some plays, finally.

New York has given up 45 or more points in three of their last four games, becoming the first team since the 1966 New York Giants to do that. They typically allow a ton of big plays to their opponents. But if there is one thing the Dolphins struggle with, it's creating big plays on offense.

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa completed a 25-yard pass last week vs the Ravens. It was the most air yards on a completion all season. They don't gash you on the ground either. If ever there was a week for the Jets cornerbacks to sit on some short routes and break on them, this would be it.

1. The Jets will win the game

New York has looked dreadful defensively of late. Miami is playing as well as they have all season. Logically, this take makes no sense. But this is the NFL. Just when you think you have this league figured out, the Denver Broncos go out and drub the Dallas Cowboys or the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Buffalo Bills.

This will be a sloppy game, full of sacks, penalties and turnovers. Some of those turnovers will lead directly to points. All three quarterbacks will struggle. But I trust the Jets ground game more than I do the Dolphins. I also like the Jets skill position players more.

Jamison Crowder, Corey Davis and Elijah Moore are a better group of receivers than most realize. Moore in particular has really come on of late. Whereas Miami pretty much only relies on rookie wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to make all of their plays.

Expect an upset and a Jets third win of the season. They should enjoy it because it might be their last.
