The New York Jets faithful may have been chanting “Tank for Trevor” all season long, but the perception isn't the same within the team, as per Newsday‘s Al Iannazzone.

With a 0-9 record through Week 10 proceedings of the 2020 NFL season, Gang Green remains committed to winning although their aspirations have yet to translate onto desirable results on the field.

Jets rookie left tackle Mekhi Becton also chimed in on the discussions of the Jets purposefully losing games to land Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

“We’re not really looking at the draft. We just want to win one game,” he said. “That’s all our minds are on right now. We don’t care if we get the first pick. We’re not worried about that as players. We just want to go out there and win.”

The junior gunslinger remains to be projected as the top overall pick for the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft in May. Lawrence is well on his way to wrapping up his collegiate career with another productive season for the Tigers who currently hold a 7-1 record thus far.

His impressive performances under center also put him in consideration as an early candidate for the ongoing Heisman Trophy race, competing against Ohio State's Justin Fields and Alabama's Mac Jones, among other top prospects in the collegiate ranks.

If they get to finish the season with the worst record in the league, the Jets will eventually land the top overall pick in the upcoming draft which could serve as a silver-lining after having another disappointing campaign.

The remainder of the season and beyond will see whether or not the pieces will fall right into place to finally name Trevor Lawrence as the new savior of the dysfunctional Jets franchise.
