The New York Jets are in need of offensive line help, and they are looking to the team in the nation's capital to find it. Yep, that means Trent Williams.

According to Connor Hughes of The Athletic, the Jets are pursuing a trade for Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams, which makes them the fifth club to express interest in acquiring Williams.

The Cleveland Browns, Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers are the other four.

Williams did not play at all in 2019 after undergoing surgery to remove a growth from his head. He is also at odds with the Redskins over how they initially handled the situation back in 2013, as Washington told him that it was no big deal at the time.

Then, this past year, Williams discovered it was a type of cancer. He proceeded to stay away from the team throughout the offseason as a result, and when he tried to come back in late October, he ended up hitting the injured reserve list after experiencing discomfort when trying to put his helmet on due to post-surgical soreness on his scalp.

The Redskins explored trading Williams at the Week 8 deadline, but their asking price was too high, as they were seeking a first-round pick and more.

With Williams entering the final year of his deal, Washington's price may not be as significant this offseason.

The 31-year-old was originally selected by the Redskins with the fourth overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft and went on to make seven straight Pro Bowl appearances between 2012 and 2018. The Jets would love to have him.
