The New York Jets have spent much of the offseason restructuring the roster with much of the attention toward helping the team take a step forward in the 2018 season.

Among those changes now includes the team parting ways with former 2015 second-round pick wide receiver Devin Smith after three years with the team, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Through his brief tenure with the Jets, Smith struggled to live up to expectations as injuries played a major factor in that unfolding after suffering a pair of torn ACLs over the span. He has struggled to recapture his promising form when he entered the league as one of the top prospects at his position in his draft class.

Instead, the 26-year-old has yet to play in an NFL game since the 2016 season while posting career totals with 10 catches on 31 targets for 135 receiving yards, and a touchdown in 14 games played with three starts.

Smith's inability to get past his injuries likely has played a major factor in the team deciding to finally move on from him. The Jets are expected to lean heavily upon wide receivers Robbie Anderson, Jermaine Kearse, and offseason acquisition Terrelle Pryor.

The duo of Anderson and Kearse proved to be formidable last season despite the Jets' struggles to find any consistency offensively. Meanwhile, the team is hoping that Pryor can recapture his breakout 2016 form where he made 77 catches for 1,007 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

He is currently recovering from offseason ankle surgery that should allow him to be ready to go well ahead of the start of the season opener.
