The New York Jets made a move to sign Le'Veon Bell this offseason to improve their running back position. Now, De'Angelo Henderson looks like he is the odd man out in the backfield.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, New York released Henderson on Tuesday. Henderson spent the 2018 season with the Jets after being drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2017.

The Jets begin their training camp this week and it was expected that Henderson would compete for a running back spot on the roster. Although, it was going to be an uphill battle to earn a roster spot in New York.

As mentioned before, the Jets signed Bell this offseason but he isn't the only running back expected to see the ball. Along with Bell, the Jets have Bilal Powell, Ty Montgomery, and Elijah McGuire who will earn the running back spots.

Of course, Bell is going to start at running back, being one of the best running backs in the NFL. Now, Henderson will need to try to find a new home in 2019.

In two seasons in the NFL, Henderson has rarely seen the field with just nine carries for 32 yards and two receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown. Nonetheless, with Henderson being a young running back it wouldn't be surprising to see him make another roster.

Wherever he goes, Henderson isn't going to be expected to start but he'll need to earn his way into a role on any roster. With a loaded backfield in New York, the Jets cut Henderson before he could prove he can carve a role on the team.
