The New York Jets were slated to pick at No. 3 in the 2019 NFL Draft, but as the draft approached, reports came out that they were trying to trade down. Unfortunately, the team was unable to get that done.

According to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jets tried to trade down from No. 3 but were unable to find a trade partner. They went ahead and drafted Alabama defensive lineman Quinnen Williams.

Williams is a huge addition for the Jets' defense. Many thought that he was the best player in the NFL Draft this year, but he will have to settle for being taken third. New York's defense certainly took a big leap forward with this selection.

New York stars Leonard Williams and Jamal Adams have to be ecstatic about this selection. Both players have been adamant that the Jets needed to focus on bringing in more defensive talent. That is exactly what Williams will bring to the table.

Last season at Alabama, Williams ended up recording 71 total tackles to go along with a defended pass and eight sacks. He is an absolute monster from a physical perspective, standing in at 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds.

There is no denying the pure talent that Williams possesses. If he is able to reach the top of his potential, the sky is the limit for him. He has the talent to become one of the top defensive players in the entire NFL.

Some fans may not view this pick as the “sexy” selection like pass rusher Josh Allen would have been, but Williams will win them over quickly.
