After four seasons with the New York Jets, free agent wide receiver Robby Anderson decided to relocate, signing a two-year, $20 million deal with the Carolina Panthers. Despite losing their top option in the wide receivers corps, the Jets will not be compensated for the loss of their free agent, via Jets Wire.

If you expect the Jets to get a 2021 compensatory pick for losing Anderson, fuhgettaboutit. Yes, he agreed to a lucrative deal with the Panthers (a reported two years, $20 million), but the Jets have signed too many free agents to qualify for a pick. Overthecap, which is highly accurate with its 32-pick compensatory projections, predicts the Jets will get shut out. Again.

Anderson, 26, joined the Jets as an undrafted wideout via Temple in the class of 2016. After his breakout season in 2017, Anderson became a fixture for New York's pass-catching options, although he saw a carousel of quarterbacks come and go in his four-year tenure, including veterans Ryan Fitzpatrick and Josh McCown and finally former third-overall pick Sam Darnold, who has worked under center for Gang Green since the 2018 campaign but missed significant time this past fall due to a bout with mononucleosis.

Anderson also reconnects with one-time teammate in Teddy Bridgewater. The former New Orleans Saints backup quarterback signed a three-year contract with Carolina worth $63 million. Bridgewater, 27, signed as a free agent with the Jets before the 2018 season, competed for the top QB job in training camp, eventually being dealt for a future third-round pick to the Saints.
