There aren't many bright spots to the New York Jets' 3-7 2019 campaign. But, there is Jamal Adams.

Adams, a third-year safety out of LSU, has taken the league by storm for his hard-hitting personality, aggressiveness, well-developed game and fearlessness. His next opponent, the Oakland Raiders, notices.

Raiders head coach Jon Gruden, in preparation for Sunday's game with the Jets, was complimentary of Adams, essentially calling him a fearless do-it-all.

Per Steve Serby in the New York Post:

“He’s a fearless player,” Gruden said. “He’s one of the most aggressive players that you will see. His playing speed is rare. He’s a linebacker playing defensive back. He’s a defensive lineman playing defensive back. And he’s a defensive back deluxe. He can do it all.”

Adams' fearlessness reflects on the field. He isn't afraid to play. Whether Gregg Williams lines him up at free safety, in the box, as a robber or in the nickel, Adams plays at an extremely high level. While he does so, he supplements the Jets' defense with big hits and forced takeaways.

In coverage, Adams has allowed a 78.7 passer rating on the season, as quarterbacks are throwing a 53.8% completion rate, 138 yards, two touchdowns and an interception his way, per Pro Football Reference. However, he does a bit more than drop back.

Adams, as a safety, leads the Jets in sacks with six. The next closest player is outside linebacker Jordan Jenkins, who has five.

Though a defensive player, all eyes will be on Adams, No. 33, on the Raiders' sideline on Sunday.
