New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold had a second straight lackluster performance during his team's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, completing 21 of his 30 passes for 218 yards, a couple of touchdowns and three interceptions.

Of course, it wasn't nearly as bad as Darnold's historically bad outing against the New England Patriots in which he posted a 3.6 passer rating last week, and it wasn't as memorable, either.

This time, Darnold was not caught saying that he was “seeing ghosts” on the sideline, and he also says that none of that affected him on Sunday:

“Well, it is what it is. It didn’t affect me,” said Darnold, according to Randy Lange of the Jets' team website. “It’s just a silly thing for social media and fans to be able to try to use it against you. But for me, I was just playing bad because I did. I just wasn’t executing out there, I wasn’t playing the balls where they needed to be. It wasn’t about that, though.”

To be fair to Darnold, he was sidelined for three games between Weeks 2 and 5 due to mono. He did, however, come back and have a strong performance against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6, completing 23 of his 32 throws for 338 yards, a pair of touchdowns and a pick, but his last two games have certainly not been up to par.

New York is now 1-6 on the year.
