New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold seems confident that the team will find the right fit when it comes to hiring a new head coach.

The Jets fired former head coach Todd Bowles on Sunday following a 38-3 loss to the New England Patriots, with New York finishing at 4-12 on the season.

After winning 10 games in his first season, Bowles was unable to lead the Jets beyond five wins in his final three seasons with the franchise.

Now, the Jets front office will try to get the team back on the right path by finding a new leader on the sidelines.

As for Darnold, he feels good about New York's chances to do just that and hopes to have some input on the who the team decides to go with.

From ESPN's Rich Cimini:

Asked if he expects to have input in the HC search, Sam Darnold said, “We'll see. I'll talk to them (upstairs) a little bit more about that.” Darnold said he's confident organization will hire right guy, adding that he's hoping to “put in as much input as I can.”

Darnold is a nice building block for the new coaching staff, as the former USC star showed a lot of potential in his first NFL season despite the usuals ups and downs that come along with being a rookie.

With the Jets already pursuing numerous candidates, Darnold and the rest of the roster will wait to find out what changes may be made heading into the 2019 season.
