After missing the last two games because of a foot injury, New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold is hoping he will be able to play against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Darnold took part in his first practice on Wednesday since the injury and although he was limited he was in pads and took part in the team periods. After practice, Darnold said he felt good and he was hopeful he would be ready.

“Felt really good today, got some action, so just going to continue to do what I can to get better and see where we go from here,” Darnold said, via Greg Joyce of the New York Post. “Coming back after today and actually practicing on it, being on it today and cutting and doing my drops, it’ll be interesting to see how it feels [Thursday]. I’m pretty optimistic about it though.”

Coach Todd Bowles said that they would have to take it a day at a time and see how it progresses, and wouldn't give any more hints on which way they are leaning with him.

If Darnold can't go, the Jets will probably turn to Josh McCown again although he was also limited during practice with a thumb and back injury.

All signs still point towards McCown being able to go, even with the minor injuries that he is dealing with. Darnold was struggling before the injury, so when he does come back the hope is that the time off will be good for his development, and he can come back with a clear mind.
