New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold is getting set to enter his pivotal third season, but things have been slowed due to the coronavirus pandemic that has swept the nation (and the world).

Darnold recently spoke with Dr. Jan Schwarz-Miller of the Atlantic Heath System and discussed precautions to take as well as how to help flatten the curve:

The sports world has obviously been rocked by COVID-19.

Both the NBA and NHL campaigns for their respective 2019-20 seasons have been suspended, and at the moment, there is no timetable for a return.

In addition, the 2020 MLB season, which was originally supposed to begin in late March, has been pushed back. There have been some discussions about beginning the campaign in June, but nothing has been confirmed as of this point.

Darnold is coming off of a 2019 season in which he missed three games due to mono. During the time he was on the field, he threw for 3,024 yards, 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while completing 61.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 84.3 in what can be accurately described as an up-and-down sophomore year.

The 22-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Southern California, was originally selected by the Jets with the third overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He made 13 starts during his rookie campaign, finishing with 2,865 yards, 17 touchdowns and 15 picks while completing 57.7 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 77.6.

The Jets went 7-9 this past season and have not made the playoffs since the 2010-11 campaign.
