There haven't been many people labeling the New York Jets as a team that can contend in the AFC East in 2020. That is something that doesn't bother Sam Darnold at all. Ahead of his third season with the Jets, Darnold reacted to people sleeping on New York this season.

“We’re not really worried about that,” Darnold said, via Spencer Aber of The JetsWire. “If people want to sleep on us, they can sleep on us. We’re fine. We’re just worried about what we’ve got to do here.”

With Tom Brady leaving the New England Patriots, the AFC East is up for grabs in 2020. For the most part, the Buffalo Bills and the Patriots have been viewed as the favorites to win the division this season.

The Bills, with Josh Allen, acquired Stefon Diggs to improve their passing attack. On the other hand, despite Brady's departure, Bill Belichick is still the head coach in New England. Not to mention, they signed Cam Newton in hopes he can return to his MVP form in the upcoming season.

As for the Jets, they haven't received much buzz this offseason. If anything, they've been shed in a negative light due to trading Jamal Adams this offseason.

Besides the decision to part ways with Adams, New York addressed the offensive line and added some wide receivers for Darnold to get the ball to. Altogether, Darnold has an arsenal that features Breshad Perriman, Jamison Crowder, Le'Veon Bell, and rookie Denzel Mims.

With training camps getting underway, Bell described Darnold as being more confident in his third season in the NFL. While the Jets aren't receiving much buzz heading into the season, Darnold is content with New York being underdogs.
