New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold will play against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported.

Darnold has missed the last two games with a sprained right shoulder.

The Jets enter Week 7 as the only team in football still seeking its first win of the 2020 season. They've been far and away the worst team in the league, and rank last in DVOA by a laughably astounding margin.

Darnold, too, has disappointed in his third campaign. In a key development season, the former No. 3 overall pick has completed just 59.4 percent of his passes, has three touchdowns against four (really bad) interceptions, and his passer rating of 70.7 ranks 32nd.

It's hard to place too much of the blame on the 24-year-old's shoulders, though, considering the Jets' dearth of talent on the offensive line, at the skill positions, on the coaching staff, and, frankly, everywhere else up and down the organization.

The poor play of Darnold and New York's current pole position for the No. 1 overall pick has ramped up the conversation surrounding the potential decision as to whether to give up on Darnold in exchange for Clemson passer Trevor Lawrence.

“Yeah, you know, I mean, I have social media,” Darnold said about the Lawrence buzz on Thursday, via ESPN. “I've seen some of the things, but … Yeah, we've got a game to win this week and that's all we're worried about.”

In the 2018 draft, the Jets opted for Darnold over quarterback Josh Allen (No. 7 overall), whom he'll face on Sunday. Allen has the 4-2 Bills atop the AFC East and has looked like an MVP candidate at times this season.

Veteran Joe Flacco started both games for the Jets in Darnold's absence. It did not go well.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium.
