The New York Jets made a head-coaching change earlier this offseason, replacing the defensive-minded Todd Bowles with offensive guru Adam Gase, who had spent the previous two years coaching the Miami Dolphins.

Jets quarterback Sam Darnold is excited to work with Gase, saying that everyone is “buying in” to Gase's system:

“We have the potential to make a huge step,” Darnold said, according to Al Iannazzone of Newsday. “We have a ton of really good pieces. We had a lot of the same guys who made a really big impact for us last year. We’re ready to do bigger and better things this year. I’m just really, really pumped and really excited for what’s to come.”

New York added a couple of key players to its offense this offseason, headlining their free agency haul by signing running back Le'Veon Bell and wide receiver Jamison Crowder.

Darnold adds that the Jets' offense is going to employ things that people haven't really seen before, or at least not often:

“The offense is fun and unique,” said Darnold. “We’re going to do a lot of cool stuff and a lot of stuff that Jets fans haven’t seen in a while. I’m really pumped about that. I know we’re going to score points and I know our defense is going to do their job with [defensive coordinator] Gregg [Williams] over there controlling everything.”

The 21-year-old is coming off of a rookie campaign in which he started 13 games and threw for 2,865 yards, 17 touchdowns and 15 interceptions while completing 57.7 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 77.6.
