New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold did not have the strongest game on paper in the team's loss versus the Miami Dolphins in Week 2. However, wide receiver Terrelle Pryor has taken some of the blame for that.

One of Darnold's interceptions came on a sloppy route from the veteran wideout. According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, Pryor apologized to the rookie after the game.

“The way Sam throws, he doesn’t look at you,” Pryor said. “He doesn’t stare at you when he throws. He believes that you’re going to be there.

“I let him down. I said it to him after the game, ‘I hope you forgive me. I’ll make sure I’m there next time.’ That one, it’s not on Sam, and I wish it could go on a stat for me. That was a tough one for me, and I’m still thinking about that right now. All I keep thinking about is that play.”

Pryor's comments should come as no surprise. As a former quarterback himself, he knows full well what should be expecting from his receiver on certain plays. That seemed to be the case in this situation.

Despite the blemish, both players enjoyed solid outings in Week 2. Darnold continues to prove why the Jets wasted no time in making him the starter. He completed 25-of-41 passes for 334 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Meanwhile, Pryor may have established himself as one of the rookie's favorite targets after hauling in four catches for 84 yards.

That said, it is clear that the Jets' offense still has plenty of work to do as they get situated around Darnold. They will have a chance to bounce back against the Cleveland Browns in Week 3.
