The New York Jets have one of the more intriguing quarterback situations in the NFL right now. The team has three players that could be legitimate starters in this league with head coach Todd Bowles having a very tough decision ahead of him with the start of the 2018 NFL season approaching.

Before the team drafted Sam Darnold out of USC with the third overall pick, the team already had an interesting situation at quarterback with veterans Josh McCown and Teddy Bridgewater. McCown proved his worth with a career year last season and Bridgewater is trying to resurrect his career after battling injuries. Despite the surplus of talent at quarterback, Bowles seems to know who will be under center come Week 1, via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

“As coaches, we’ll meet on it and we’ll keep meeting on it,” Bowles told reporters on Sunday. “I have my ideas in my head, which I will keep to myself at this point. But I have a good idea.”

The frontrunner for the starting job seems to be Darnold at this point in time. The rookie has been impressive during the preseason while receiving heaps of praise from teammates and coaches alike. Although it is a risk, Darnold isn't getting viewed as a rookie in New York and may be able to make the seamless transition from the college game to the NFL.

As for McCown and Bridgewater, the team could go with McCown as the backup while either releasing or trading Bridgewater. There's been some speculation about the former Minnesota Vikings quarterback getting traded, but nothing has come to fruition up to this point.
