The New York Jets made a couple of splashy free-agent signings this offseason, including Trumaine Johnson, who signed a five-year deal worth up to $72.5 million and which includes $34 million in guaranteed money. Johnson hasn't looked like he's worth that much money, but that's not something he is concerned about.

Johnson has missed five games so far this year because of injury, and when he has been in the lineup, he hasn't looked like the lockdown cornerback they were hoping to get.

“Not at all,” Johnson said, per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “Not at all, to be honest with you. I came in here, my whole main focus was to flip this organization around and start winning games. Our goal was to go to the playoffs. Like I said, I’ve always been about winning where I’m at. But as far as pressure … no. I love the game. And I like going out there and competing no matter what’s going on.”

Johnson left the Los Angeles Rams this past offseason to join the Jets. He admits he never thought this is how it would work out because he wasn't chasing the money, but he doesn't have any regrets leaving the Rams.

“To be honest, I never would have thought that it would have worked out that way,” Johnson told the Daily News about his financial boon. “It wasn’t my main focus, but I knew (agent) Joel (Segal) would take care of it. It worked out in the long run. You asked me if I regret leaving the Rams … No, I don’t regret it. I had a great six years there. Great coaches. Great teammates. And now I’m here.”

With the big contract, even if the Jets decide to change coaches and some of the front office this season, Johnson is here to stay, so the hope is that his play will improve going into next season.
