New York Jets wide receiver Rishard Matthews is listed as doubtful to return to his team's game against the Houston Texans on Saturday as a result of a hamstring injury, according to the Rich Cimini of ESPN NFL Nation.

Matthews caught one pass for seven yards before exiting.

It has been a very underwhelming year for Matthews overall. After a disappointing start with the Tennessee Titans, Matthews was cut and then signed by the Jets back in October.

In eight games between both teams this season, Matthews has registered just five catches for 24 yards.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Nevada, was originally selected by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round (227th pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Matthews did not receive much burn during his rookie campaign, hauling in just 11 receptions for 151 yards. The following year, he earned a bigger role within the Dolphins' offense and ended up snaring 41 balls for 448 yards and two touchdowns.

However, Matthews did not truly break out until 2015, when he racked up 43 catches for 662 yards and four scores.

He parlayed that performance and turned it into a three-year, $16 million deal with Tennessee, and then in 2016, Matthews accumulated 65 receptions and 945 yards while reaching the end zone nine times.

The San Diego native had another solid year last season, totaling 53 catches for 795 yards and four touchdowns, but the 2018 campaign has been nothing short of a major bust for Matthews.

The Jets came into Saturday's action with a record of 4-9 and are out of the playoff picture.
