New York Jets wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson is impressed with everything about Jets quarterback Sam Darnold.

Jefferson unloaded a barrage of expletives when he discussed Darnold's game with NJ.com's Matt Stypulkoski (via Pro Football Talk's Josh Alper) on June 13.

“Excuse my French when I say this, but he's a f—–g dude. He's a f—–g dude with a f—–g arm and he's accurate as s–t. So excuse that.

It's everything. The way that he works – he's here early in the morning, he stays after, he probably doesn't leave this building until six, seven at night. He's in the old quarterback room.

I've been so impressed with this kid's work ethic and the way he attacks everything. It's just been awesome to see a young kid like that. It's almost like he's been here before. He's a young guy, but he has a lot of veteran attributes to him.”

Jefferson told Styulkoski his enthusiasm for Darnold has rubbed off on his wide receivers. Darnold's upsides have helped establish solid chemistry with his receivers. That bodes well for the Jets' postseason aspirations in the 2019 NFL season.

New Jets general manager Joe Douglas cited a sense of urgency to win with Darnold. The Jets haven't made the postseason in nine years.

“When you know you have the right guy, there's a sense of urgency. Let's go win right now. I feel like that confidence is here right now,” Douglas told ESPN's Rich Cimini on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old Darnold threw for 2,865 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions last season. Expect him to come out with all guns blazing again in the 2019 NFL season.
